An Overview of Bed Bugs Elimination

Bed bug infestation has been a significant problem in many households, especially if there is a favorable environment supporting their breeding.

Bed bugs survive by feeding on blood from humans and animals. Bed bugs not only hide in beddings but also in carpets and furniture.

Although bed bugs have not been observed to be vectors of diseases, they may cause mental health complications and severe allergic reactions.

Due to this, you should know how to get rid of bed bugs if infested.

Materials or Products required for this job.

*Pesticides

Although it is recommended that these chemicals only be used by professionals, you should purchase one for use in emergency cases.

*A vacuum cleaner

This equipment allows you to get rid of bed bugs by seeping deep through the fabric and collecting eggs and bed bugs firmly attached to the fabric.

*Encasement sheets

To prevent the infestation from outside or contain the already existing bed bugs, you should invest in a sheet to encase your infested fabric.

*Hot water

Temperatures above 60 Celsius can kill all stages of bed bugs. Washing your fabrics with water above this temperature is an efficient way to kill bed bugs.

You should, therefore, ensure that you have materials such as sticky pads if you want to keep bed bugs at bay.

How to do this eliminate bed bugs

(A step-wise guide)

1. Locate the infested area

This should be done early enough to ensure that the infestation does not get out of hand.

If you are not able to locate the infested areas, you should hire a professional to perform the task.

2. Contain the bed bugs in these areas

This is a critical step as it ensures that there is no further spread of these pests.

The best way to do this is to cover all the material in the infested areas with the encasement sheets discussed above. Vacuuming should also be done to ensure that is no bed bug left in their hiding places.

3. Eliminate the bed bugs.

In this step, you should first consider the hot and cold treatment as they are safer.

If, after these treatment steps, there are still traces of bed bugs, you should resolve to use of pesticides.

You should, however, keep monitoring the treated areas to ensure that the treatment procedures worked.

For subsequent bed bug treatment, you should engage professionals to make sure that everything is done correctly.

As a preventative measure, you should always ensure that your house is clean as untidy items attract bed bugs.

You should, however, follow the above tips to get rid of bed bugs if an unfortunate infestation occurs.

Bed bugs bite pictures

If you ask anyone who has ever encountered bedbugs before then, they would tell you that bedbugs are one of the most irritating parasites that could ever invade your home.

Considering the fact that studies have found that an estimated one out of five Americans have had to deal with bedbug infestation at some point or know someone who has, then these parasites aren’t something to mess with.

While unlike most parasites familiar to humans that are also known to spread disease, bedbugs don’t, but what they lack in terms of vector ability, they more than make up for it with their bites.

These little critters have some of the tastiest bits, and it gets even worse if you happen to be allergic.

Bite characteristics

Going to the web, you can’t miss some of the bed bugs bite pictures with some of the most common characteristics being:

· Redness

· Itchy bites

· Skin breaks

In most cases, the victims usually have bites one their faces, shoulders, necks, legs, arms and hands.

What happens when you get bitten?

When bedbugs bite, they use their proboscis to penetrate their victim’s skins when there are mostly asleep (they can also bite when one is wide awake) and suck out their blood.

Usually, the process goes unnoticed when one is sleeping.

The result is red spots where one is bitted, and inflammation is typically minor.

It some cases, the victims turn out to be hypersensitive, making the symptoms (spots and redness from inflammation) to be worse.

Symptoms

While the symptoms happen almost immediately after a bite, sometimes they can progress further and last for days.

Fortunately, the symptoms resolve themselves in about a weak.

The pictures shown are as a result of the common symptoms:

Inflamed skin due to a painful burning sensation

Itchy red spots or bumps that sometimes have a dark center.

Dried blood spots on the skin or sheets

In worst cases and hyperallergic victims, there tend to be papular eruptions, the inflammation spreads past the bitten areas giving it a reddish look.

While bed bugs are not known for spreading disease, their ability to cause a lot of discomforts and nasty-looking bites, especially to hypersensitive individuals is something to be reckoned with.

Where do bed bugs come from?

Bedbugs are some of the insects that are very disturbing to human beings and human life.

They are tiny and if you are not keen on them, you will find them in your place in large numbers than you thought. Bedbugs are also found in any location where human beings congregate or even spend extended time there. Here are some of the places that they come from

  • Public transportation. Moving from one place to another sometimes will mean you use public means of transport. That clearly shows that at that place, many people will have used the vehicle. It only needs one person to invest bedbugs in the buss. They will then spread by hiding in the seats of the vehicle and multiply. What follows is attaching themselves to your clothes or luggage and you easily take them home.
  • Sitting in public spaces. This is also a place where you can find these bedbugs. Some of the public spaces I refer to are libraries, theater halls, markets, and many other places. Always ensure that proper inspection is always done before you decide to have a seat there for long periods.
  • Hotel rooms. After having journeyed and you are tired before reaching your destination or when you are having some work to do and finish in a region or town, the best place to decide to sleep on is a hotel. To be safe, check the bedsheets so that you get to see the tell-tale of any blood spots or even sightings of the eggshells of the bugs or the bugs themselves. You can use a small flashlight to do the visual inspection.
  • Suitcases. These are used to carry your luggage but they are also the best places where bugs will hide and accompany you back home. So, upon returning from any journey, ensure that you can vacuum suitcases and inspect them thoroughly upon returning from your vacation.
  • Buying second-hand furniture. This is one great mistake that you can do because bed bugs will always be in the hiding crevices and some parts that you might not easily know or identify. If you must buy furniture like box spring beds, mattresses, and others, inspection should be done on them and even treated before you get to have them in your home.

Bedbugs are always hungrier and they will tend to bite and feed with any chance they get.

A the same time, spotting them or killing them on the spot is not easy as they are fast reactors to jumping away when they realize any form of danger. Better not allow them to be in your home at all.
