How to edit video files Overview
You need to obtain the correct video editing software if you want to learn how to edit video files.

When purchasing a camera, you must understand which codec the camera uses to compress the video material to a smaller size.
Understanding the codec used will help you create timeline settings in Final Cut Pro or other video editing software.
Think of the codec as something that can squeeze a bucket of chocolate syrup into a solid chocolate block and then re-melt it into chocolate syrup.
The reason we use the codec is that the original uncompressed material is too large for video editing software.
Therefore, we need a way to reduce the length of the material in order to manage it in the video editing software.
The engineer came up with the idea of a codec to accomplish this task.
How to organize video files?
The first thing you need to know is the reserved copy of the video.
The original file is an unedited version of the video file located on your video recording device.
You can also carry the imported video in the editing software.
The third copy will be a copy created by processing all video files containing video clips.
You will then have the final copy and finished product edited.
Create a digital copy
Since you put the video in one place, there may be some that are still old or non-digital versions.
For these, you need to convert software. Select the appropriate location and make a backup.
Named file
When it comes to the large number of files to be processed, one thing to remember.
You need to save them in a way that describes the file name in the year, month, and day.
This format is easy to identify and also allows you to know the exact time the video was taken.
You can then organize them and create folders for specific locations.
Add tag
If you have a large number of videos, it will be painful to organize them and arrange them according to holidays.
It is recommended that you categorize them according to the shooting year and create a folder relative to the folder assigned each year.
